How to Lose Weight Quickly for Your Wedding

The day of your wedding, for most people, is the happiest of all days. It’s a day you want to feel good and look good as well. In this post, we’ll share our favorite wedding weight loss tips.

If you want to lose weight for your wedding, it can be tempting to feel overwhelmed or do something drastic or choose shortcuts.

None of those should be the case. 

So let’s dive in to see how you can make your wedding weight loss happen a lot easier.


1. Set realistic goals

Goals always represent the gap between what is and what could be.

And for us to close that gap, we often need to stretch ourselves, putting in more effort than we would normally do. That’s ok.

But this does not mean setting up ridiculous and unattainable goals.

Let’s say you want to lose 10 pounds in 4 months. Is that realistic? Well, that will depend on your current weight and your lifestyle.

Although you want to lose weight, remember that your worth is not tied to the number on the scale

You should love and value yourself no matter what you look like, no matter what your weight or clothing size is.

A realistic goal will help you feel motivated and inspired to begin the weight loss journey.

2. Do the kind of exercise you enjoy, at a fixed schedule every time

Whether it is dancing, hiking, running, going to the gym, and doing strength training, do the kind of exercise you enjoy, and do it at a fixed time every day. 

Aerobic exercises are necessary for general fitness and endurance. Strength exercises will help promote your muscle strength. 

It will help you reduce body fat and boost your metabolism resulting in burning more calories. And of course, you don’t have to do the highly intense exercises. 

Balance exercises strengthen core muscles to help you maintain balance. Flexibility exercises increase your mobility and reduce stiffness.


Just like with your meal times, exercising at the same time each day, fosters discipline and healthy habits in the long term.

If you are a serial couch potato and hate exercising, do the exercise you least dislike.

Don’t force yourself to do something like CrossFit or run 5 miles a day if you hate it. After all, what good is it if you’re only able to keep it up after a week or two?

Remember the weight loss is for your wedding, a special day, so don’t torment yourself.

3. Keep a food journal

Keeping a food journal is a great way to track the meals, beverages, snacks, and other food intakes. 

2008 study involving 1,700 participants showed that a person’s weight loss could double by keeping a food diary. 

This is true because you tend to have more information the more you keep track of your diet. 

You can go back on your entries to work on which routine works well for you and which doesn’t. 

This is an excellent way to determine the healthy diet to stick with. 

4. Keep yourself hydrated

Drinking more water increases your mitochondrial function. This in turn speeds up lipolysis and breaks down fats for energy through hydrolysis. 

All of this helps to boost your metabolism. Water is needed to do this process. 


Drinking water for weight loss in higher amounts will help decrease your body weight, body mass index (BMI), and body composition.

Studies show that water can potentially accelerate thermogenesis up to 30% for 1 and a half hours after drinking half a liter of water. 

But that’s not all.

Clinical trials confirmed that taking two 8-ounce glasses of water before a meal effectively sheds excess body weight. 

Earlier studies on dieting adults’ water consumption suggested that drinking 2 cups of water before meals make one eat between 75 and 90 fewer calories. 

After 12 weeks, they lost up to 5 pounds of body weight compared to those who do not routinely drink water before meals.

5. Get enough sleep

Wedding weight loss will not happen if you not sleeping well.


If you deprive yourself of getting enough sleep, you can potentially slow down your metabolism and change your hormone levels. 

In this case, this will trigger increased appetite and fat storage. In the end, you will keep on gaining more weight. 

Give yourself eight to ten hours of sleep, which is the recommended amount of sleep that your body needs to function normally throughout the day and help you maintain a healthy weight. 


Losing weight for your wedding can be overwhelming, especially when you have so many other things to concern yourself with. 

Be sure to set realistic goals of what’s possible and once you have those goals, focus on doing the exercises you enjoy. Track what you eat, drink enough water, and make sure to get some rest.
